Short Tours
If you’d like to join us on a trip, but don’t want to go on a full-fledged two-week safari, below are some of the more popular options available. We are also able to create a custom itinerary at your request.
GAMKASKLOOF (THE HELL)
A 2-day trip to enjoy the beautiful scenery and plants of the Swartberg Mountains. An experience never to forget. See how earlier people lived in Gamkaskloof, and stay in one of the restored houses (accommodation to be booked well in advance). En-route, enjoy the beauty and historical buildings of Prince Albert and the Swartberg Pass.
UPPER KAROO 1
A 2 to 4-day trip into the Upper Karoo. Enjoy the real spirit of this desolated area. Visit the interesting rock formations of Oukloof Pass, the fossil spoors and historical buildings of Fraserburg, the Tombstone Route of Williston and corbelled houses of the Upper Karoo. We stay at guest farms where you can taste and smell the Karoo, experience the silence and watch millions of stars while sitting by a braaivleis fire.
UPPER KAROO 2
See the land of the Korbeelhuisies (Corbelled Houses) built by early farmers. Driving via Fraserburg to Sutherland, from there to Williston, Carnarvon and returns via Loxton. Trip can also be extended to include Verneukpan and celebrate a sundowner on the pan. Sleep over at guest farms, discover the Grafsteen route (Tomb Stone Route) of Williston and visit the SALT observatory near Sutherland. Unique experience with lots of Karoo plants and birds. Trip: 5 days (6 days if Verneukpan is included). Min 2 people.
KAROO
Enjoy the real Karoo (Koup); get down on your knees and discover the little things. Visit the Karoo National Park, a working olive farm, Swartberg Pass and Gamkaskloof. The best of Karoo scenery, birds and plants.
Trip: 1 or 2 days or more. Min 2 people.
AUGRABIES AND KALAHARI NATIONAL PARKS
A trip to remember! Explore parts of Bushmanland, see Augrabies (“place of huge noise”) and experience the real Kalahari. This trip is mostly for lovers of birds and game. Sleep over at guest farms and national parks.
Trip: 7 days or more. Min 2 people.
BUSHMANLAND
Discover Bushmanland, one of SA’s most remote areas. Drive through the Fraserburg to Calvinia and the Hantam, Loeriesfontein to Pofadder and return via Kenhardt and Brandvlei. Specially for birders to see the rare endemics.
Trip: 5 days. Min 2 people.
TANQUA KAROO & ROGGEVELD
Enjoy a trip to the Tanqua Karoo and Roggeveld. Sleep in Tanqua Karoo, visit Tanqua National Park, go via Gannaga Pass to Middelpos (one of only a few privately owned towns in SA), visit Sutherland, SA’s coldest town, and the SALT Observatory and return via Ouberg Pass. Sleep over at guest farms and experience the hospitality of the rural backcountry. See a lot of the area’s unique plants and birds. Trip: 2 to 4 days. Min. 2 people.
